Korean dermatology pricing is 30–50% below comparable Taipei aesthetic clinics(Eastern District, Daan, etc.) for the same procedures using the same KFDA-approved devices. Popular treatments for Taiwanese patients

What Taiwanese patients book.

Glass skin protocol

Multi-step glow combo: skin booster + mild laser + LDM (low-frequency ultrasound). Korean glass-skin technique influences global K-beauty — popular among Taiwanese skincare-savvy patients.

🎯

Pico laser (PicoSure / PicoPlus)

Pigmentation, melasma, freckle clearance. Korean clinics have higher pico laser case volume than Taiwan. Series of 3–5 sessions recommended for melasma — can be planned across 2–3 trips.

💉

Filler (HA-based, Korean brands)

Korean filler brands (Yvoire, Neuramis, Chaeum) widely used. Korean injection technique emphasis on natural-looking volume vs. Taiwan's slightly heavier hand. Many Taiwanese patients prefer Korean aesthetic.

🌟

HIFU lifting (Shurink, Ulthera)

Korean HIFU adoption ahead of Taiwan. Shurink Universe, Ultherapy Prime are JRYN mainstays. Single 60-min session, mild swelling 12–24h, results emerge over 8–12 weeks.

💧

Salmon DNA / PDRN injection

Regeneration injectable, popular in Korea since 2023. Often 50% below Taipei private clinic pricing. Series of 3 sessions standard.

🧬

Exosome therapy

Korean clinics led adoption from 2023. Cutting-edge regenerative skincare combined with mild laser for enhanced absorption.

Practical Taiwan-specific notes

Things Taiwanese patients ask.

Payment · Taiwan cards work

Visa, Mastercard, JCB, AmEx accepted at JRYN. Most Taiwan-issued cards work without issues. Cash exchange at Gimhae airport or banks (Hana, Woori) — better rates than airport for amounts over TWD 10,000. Korean Pay (kakao) and Line Pay don't work for foreigners.

Language · Mandarin throughout

JRYN front desk includes Mandarin-speaking staff. Consultation, consent, and aftercare in Traditional Chinese. Dr. Lee provides explanation through Mandarin-staff translation. WhatsApp/Line follow-up in Mandarin or English.

Food · Familiar Asian cuisine

Hundreds of restaurants in Seomyeon. Taiwanese-influenced bubble tea shops, Korean-Chinese fusion (jjajangmyeon), authentic Chinese restaurants (Tien Tien, Zhajiang Korean-Chinese). Convenience stores stock similar items to Taiwan's.

Weather · Pack layers

Busan winters (Dec–Feb) are colder than Taiwan — pack warm layers. Spring and fall are mild. Summer (Jul–Aug) similar to Taipei but with sea breeze. Indoor clinics are climate-controlled regardless of season.

When Busan makes sense for Taiwanese patients

Decision framework.

Busan is right for you if

  • You want Korean K-beauty innovation (devices, techniques) before Taiwan adoption
  • 30–50% pricing savings vs Taipei matters for your treatment scope
  • You're comfortable with Mandarin-supported (not Mandarin-native) clinical environment
  • You can take a 3–4 day weekend trip
  • You're considering combining shopping with treatment

Stay in Taiwan if

  • You need ongoing weekly treatments (commuting impractical)
  • Your dermatologic condition requires Taiwan health insurance coverage
  • Total trip cost (flights + hotel + treatment) doesn't beat Taipei for your specific procedure
  • You prefer Mandarin-native clinical environment without translation
  • Time-sensitive (emergency) treatments — local care is faster

Combine Seoul + Busan if

  • You're already going to Seoul for shopping or tourism
  • You have 5+ days for a fuller medical tourism trip
  • You want to compare Gangnam vs Busan clinic experiences
  • KTX 2.5h between cities makes a multi-base trip practical
  • You want both Myeongdong shopping and Busan beach experience
Returning to Taiwan post-treatment

Recovery across borders.

Flight day timing

Schedule flights at least 24 hours after treatment. Skin booster, botox, and mild laser are flight-OK same day. After HIFU/aggressive laser, 24h gap recommended. Thread lift requires 48h.

Customs declaration

Declare any prescription medication at Taiwanese customs. Bring JRYN's prescription paper. Topicals (creams, sunscreens) typically don't need declaration. Cosmetics under TWD 6,000 personal use threshold are duty-free.

Follow-up via WhatsApp or Line

JRYN follows up at 24h, 72h, and 14 days post-treatment via WhatsApp or Line. Send photos for progress check. Mandarin or English communication, your choice.

Repeat-visit logistics

Many Taiwanese patients return quarterly or semi-annually. Save your JRYN patient ID; we pull up full treatment history for repeat visits. Some patients book the same hotel and similar flight times for predictability.

Frequently asked

FAQ · Taiwanese patients
questions.

Why Busan and not Seoul for Taiwanese patients?
Two reasons: pricing and convenience. Busan dermatology is 15–30% below comparable Gangnam Seoul pricing, on top of the 30–50% Taipei savings. And Gimhae airport is closer to Seomyeon (45 min) than Incheon to Gangnam (90 min). Many Taiwanese patients still go to Seoul, but Busan is increasingly the value pick.
Do Taiwanese passport holders need a visa for Korea?
No tourist visa needed for stays under 90 days. K-ETA (electronic travel authorization) is required from k-eta.go.kr — ₩10,000 (about TWD 250), apply 72 hours before flight, valid 3 years for multiple entries.
Does JRYN have Mandarin-speaking staff?
Yes — Mandarin-speaking front desk staff handle consultation, consent forms, treatment-day support, and aftercare follow-up. Traditional Chinese (Taiwan) and Simplified Chinese (mainland) both supported. Dr. Lee communicates with patients through Mandarin-staff translation.
Can I use Taiwan-issued credit cards at JRYN?
Yes. Visa, Mastercard, JCB, and AmEx all accepted. Most Taiwan banks issue compatible cards. We also accept cash (KRW). Best rates: exchange at Hana or Woori bank in Seomyeon (over TWD 10,000) rather than airport.
How much can I save vs Taipei?
30–50% on most treatments. Example: Ultherapy Prime in Taipei Eastern District ~TWD 60,000–80,000; in Busan TWD 35,000–45,000. Salmon DNA (PDRN) in Taipei ~TWD 12,000 per session; Busan TWD 6,500–8,000. Total trip cost (flights + 2 nights hotel + 1–2 treatments) typically still beats Taipei.
What treatments do most Taiwanese patients book?
Glass skin protocol (booster + mild laser combination), pico laser for pigmentation, HIFU (Shurink Universe / Ultherapy Prime), Korean filler brands, and salmon DNA injection. Combination packages popular among first-time patients seeking comprehensive glow.
Is the 3-day weekend trip realistic?
Yes — most Taiwanese JRYN patients do exactly this. Friday afternoon flight from Taipei → Friday night Seomyeon arrival → Saturday morning treatment → Saturday afternoon recovery and light tourism → Sunday morning final check → Sunday afternoon flight home. 2 nights, 1–2 treatments, manageable.
Are Korean dermatology devices safe?
Yes — KFDA-approved (Korean equivalent of TFDA). Many devices are dual or triple-approved (FDA + KFDA + TFDA). Korean clinics often have higher cumulative case counts than Taiwanese clinics for newer devices because adoption happened earlier. JRYN uses only KFDA-approved devices.
Can I get a tax refund as a Taiwanese tourist?
Note: Korea ended the foreign-patient VAT refund on aesthetic dermatology starting January 1, 2026. You will not get a tax refund on treatment costs anymore. Shopping at department stores still qualifies for the regular tourist VAT refund. JRYN's pricing didn't change with the refund ending.
How do I book?
WhatsApp +82-10-3951-7576 or send email to international@seomyeondermatologyclinic.com. Send: passport name, dates, treatment interests, any allergies/medications. Within 24 hours we reply in Mandarin with treatment plan, total pricing in TWD-equivalent, and confirmed appointment slot.
